Rewind Bar Med Spa Reviews — What to ask before a facial for acne-prone skin

Rewind Bar advertises a signature facial for acne-prone skin. A facial may support a routine, but active or persistent acne can require diagnosis and treatment beyond an appointment at a med spa.

Identify the type of problem

Describe whether the issue is occasional clogged pores, inflamed breakouts, scarring, painful lesions or a new pattern of acne. The AAD notes that acne has different causes and recommends a dermatologist when self-care is not controlling it.

Ask the facial provider what they can assess and what should be referred to a dermatologist. This is especially important if you have active irritation, a skin infection, a medication change or a history of dark marks after inflammation.

Review every proposed step

Ask which products, exfoliants and extraction steps would be used, and whether they conflict with your current acne medications. The AAD recommends gentle, non-abrasive cleansing and avoiding irritating skin-care products; more exfoliation is not automatically better.

If your skin is dry or sensitive from treatment, ask whether a simpler facial or a pause makes more sense. Tell the provider about allergies and any prior reaction to fragrance or acids before products are applied.

Measure success without a cure promise

Ask what temporary skin changes are likely, what home care is recommended and when worsening breakouts or irritation should prompt follow-up. A single facial should not be sold as a guaranteed cure for acne or scars.

If your goal is scar treatment rather than active acne care, discuss that separately. Microneedling, peels and laser procedures have different indications and risks, and a dermatology consultation can help match a procedure to the scar type.
